I won the lottery!
I had just come off a nasty divorce, dropped out of college, and had school loans to pay off.
I decided it was time for a change. I knew that joining the Navy would turn my life around 180 degrees. Considering I was headed straight down, that was just what I needed if I was ever going to do something meaningful with my life.
The Navy trained me in public affairs and to be a print and broadcast journalist. So far I have been published in 16 publications worldwide and have worked on several motion picture projects.
I have had lunch with the President and met astronaut John Glenn, as well as many Hollywood personalities. I even managed to quit smoking and just recently ran my first marathon.
The Navy has sent me to exotic locations around the world including Israel, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Spain to name just a few.
Looking back at where I was just a few years ago and where I am now, it’s hard to believe that I’m the same person. The end of my current enlistment is still a couple of months away, but I have already made up my mind to reenlist.
