I sure have come a long way.

I grew up on welfare. College was never an option because there was no money for tuition.
In high school I knew I was going to join the Navy. I thought I knew what I wanted to do, too. Once I did it, though, I discovered I didn’t like it. A buddy told me about his career as an Operating Room Tech. I cross-rated (switched careers) over to the medical area.
I have been a Hospital Corpsman in the pharmacy for almost 10 years now. Aside from the experience I have gained, I have also received a lot of technical training, most of which carries over to college credits. In fact, I have accumulated so many credits, it would only take two years to get my bachelor’s degree.
One day I am going to retire. The fact that I have Navy training, experience and discipline makes me highly marketable. My hometown hospital said they would hire me and create a position if none were open. Employers just love to hire former Sailors because they know what great employees they’re getting.
