Crossroads
Family
I have really made something of myself.

I didn’t intend to join the Navy; I was just being supportive of my brother when he went to the recruiter to take his ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test to see if he qualified for military service. I took the test too.
I have only been in for three years and already made a name for myself, even earning an award called the Blue Jacket Sailor of the Year. It’s based on outstanding work I have performed as a Yeoman. I report to a three-star Admiral responsible for Navy personnel.
When I visit home, people tell me how much I have changed, how much I have matured. I am responsible now - I have to be, I’m married with a family.
A few years ago, I couldn’t work at a job for more than a few months. Now I am getting ready to reenlist for four more years and planning for a one-year deployment to Bahrain. I have really made something of myself.
