On Duty
Navy Healthcare
Welcome to the Navy’s medical and dental field — an area filled with opportunity, adventure and travel.
Medical and Dental Field Careers
The Navy medical and dental fields are broken up into two groups: Officer and Enlisted. Each offers a variety of specialties, like primary care, disease prevention, and surgery — just to name a few. You’ll receive the perfect blend of classroom and hands-on training, while gaining access to some of the most innovative medical facilities and technologically advanced equipment in the world.
Financial Assistance
In the civilian world, medical school can leave you saddled with years of debt. But in the Navy, special incentives and financial assistance programs, educational benefits and special pays can help you reduce or eliminate the cost of medical school.
The World is Your Waiting Room
Another plus in choosing a career in the Navy medical field is your working environment. You could practice your specialty around the globe, on ships or subs, land-based medical facilities or hospitals. You’ll likely have the opportunity to work where most people vacation.
And in the Navy, there’s no need to worry about starting a practice, establishing a client base or dealing with HMOs.
Who knows, you might end up becoming the personal physician for the President of the United States and his staff!
