DD(X) Land-Attack Destroyer

Presently under development, this surface combatant is being designed to operate in any maritime environment. The DD(X) will use an advanced gun system that can strike targets up to 100 miles away and a peripheral vertical launch system (PVLS) that can fire Sea Sparrow and standard antiaircraft missiles as well as Tomahawk land-attack missiles. Armed with an array of land attack, long-range weapons, the DD(X) will have the ability to support forces ashore, strike independent land targets and counter maritime threats simultaneously! In addition, the DD(X) will take advantage of advanced stealth technologies rendering it significantly less detectable to potential enemies and more survivable when under attack.
AEGIS Weapons System

With antiair, antisurface and antisubmarine warfare capabilities, AEGIS is the Navy’s combat weapons system for the new millennium. At the heart of this system is an advanced, automatic detect and track, multifunction phased-array radar called the SPY-1D. This combat system is able to search, track and provide missile guidance functions simultaneously with a tracking capacity of over 100 targets. These targets can include aircraft, submarines, ships, land targets and incoming enemy missiles.
