Travel Benefits

A tower on the Great Wall of China.

The Navy is a great way to see the world, but there’s often more to see than you can get to during a single port call. Not to worry. In the Navy, you get a chance to travel even when you’re not aboard ship.

The Navy’s terrific travel benefits begin with time off. Sailors receive 30 days of paid leave every year. That’s a full month during which you can relax, visit family — or travel to new places.

It’s easier to go places than you might expect. Sailors can travel on military flights around the world for free on a standby, space-available basis. If there is space on a flight going your way, you can get aboard.

In addition, as an active-duty member of the military, you will often be eligible to stay in base lodging around the world. This includes lodging at any military facility, not just the Navy’s, that has rooms available for military personnel and their families on leave, usually at a cost much lower than you would find at a hotel off base.

Don’t miss out on this chance to see the world. Locate your nearest recruiter and find out about the opportunities for travel, education, security and development that the Navy has for you.

TAKE OFF

How do they get the jets up and off those aircraft carriers so quickly?

Steam powered catapults propel an aircraft from a stand still to speeds of 150 mph in just 220 feet.

Welcome to the Military’s Airlines

When space is available, you may fly on many types of aircraft — from a cargo plane to a passenger jet. There won’t be in-flight movies or a choice of wines, but the price – free –absolutely, positively cannot be beat.
