Who I Can Be

As an Officer or Sailor, what could you accomplish after your first 12 to 18 months in the Navy? Or, if you want to maximize your experiences, what could you accomplish after 4 to 6 years? Who I Can Be can give you some examples.

Simply follow the three simple steps below.

Step 1

Do you qualify to be an Officer or Sailor? You’ll find the answer below.

Enlisted. To enlist in the Navy, you must be between 18-34 years old (17 with parental consent), meet physical, legal and mental requirements and have a high school diploma.
Officer. Officer candidates are required to have a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.

Step 2

What is your reason for joining the Navy?

You want fun, adventure and travel
You want to make a difference (i.e. patriotism, humanitarianism)
You want to build a future (i.e. education, training, money)

Step 3

Choose where you’ll be in:

12-18 months
4-6 years
