Job Description:

Sailors in this field operate and maintain the Navy's global satellite telecommunications systems, mainframe computers, local and wide area networks and micro-computer systems used in the fleet. If you are a problem solver who can handle the responsibility of working with high-tech information, answer your life’s challenge with a job in the field of information technology.

What Will You Do?

As a member of this field, you will ensure the all-important communications link between units at sea and stations ashore. As part of this occupational specialty, you might also:

  • Write programs to handle the collection, manipulation and distribution of data for a wide variety of applications and requirements
  • Operate and coordinate telecommunications systems including automated networks, datalinks and circuits
  • Apply diagnostic, corrective and recovery techniques to integrated information systems
  • Work with highly classified and technical material
  • Provide technical support to deployed units
  • Collect and analyze communication and noncommunication signals
  • Provide telecommunications and computer-related training and assistance
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on state-of-the-art equipment
  • Operate and maintain the Navy global satellite telecommunications systems
