Job Description
Practice under the guidelines of a supervising physician. Work as an integral part of the Navy's health-care delivery team. Support physicians in primary care medicine areas or specific surgical subspecialties. Perform initial evaluation, examination and diagnosis of routine disorders, diseases and injuries. Share responsibility for administering appropriate treatment options. And provide patients with detailed instructions for home-care procedures.
You could also:
- Be assigned to all types of medical treatment facilities in the United States, overseas and on numerous operational units (sea tours are part of the PA career progression and are two years in length)
- Get financial assistance for continuing medical education (recertification exams are available)
- Apply for postgraduate specialty training under established guidelines for Medical Service Corps Officers
- Receive training in emergency medicine, rural medicine and family practice
- Receive credit for both workplace experience and master's level degrees in the PA field

GRADUATE STUDENTS
GET MONEY FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL

Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) — Receive 100% tuition assistance while completing an eligible physician assistant education program plus a monthly stipend of $1,992 to help cover living expenses for up to 24 months.
Navy Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) — Receive up to $120,000 while finishing your degree. This amount includes a generous monthly salary and housing allowance ranging from $2,990 to $5,000 for up to 24 months.*

PRACTICING PROFESSIONALS
GET HELP REPAYING EDUCATIONAL LOANS
There's an alternative to spending years paying down the cost of your graduate education. If you're currently a practicing professional:
Navy Health Professions Loan Repayment Program — Receive up to $80,000 to help repay your graduate school loans by applying to receive $40,000 each year for up to two years.*
To be eligible, you must serve as an Active Duty Medical Service Corps Officer for each year you receive the loan payment.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Completion of a physician assistant education program approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA)
Specific Requirements
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
