Navy Insurance

These benefits mean peace of mind for you and your family.

The Navy's comprehensive health-care coverage and life insurance benefits are hard to beat. When it comes to providing medical care for Sailors and their families, the Navy offers high-quality health-care coverage that any job seeker would envy. And the Navy also provides all its servicemembers with life insurance coverage. Read on to learn more about these outstanding Navy benefits.

Health Insurance

These days, a good health plan is increasingly rare. Rising medical costs and skyrocketing insurance premiums can make it difficult to afford quality medical care. In America’s Navy, we pride ourselves on providing world-class medical care to Sailors and their families.

This full, comprehensive coverage is available at all military hospitals and dental facilities. And if any kind of specific service is unavailable, Navy servicemembers receive referrals to necessary providers. This also is covered by the Navy health-care plan.

In the case of a medical emergency or concern, visiting your local medical facility is also covered. This level of high-quality health-care coverage is getting harder and harder to find in the civilian sector. In the Navy, it remains standard issue.

Life Insurance

The Navy provides all its servicemembers with superior life insurance coverage options.

Term life insurance is available to Sailors under the Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (SGLI) plan. It offers up to $400,000 of full-time coverage at affordable rates.

Term life insurance is also extended to the spouses and dependent children of Sailors under the Family Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) plan. It offers up to $100,000 of full-time coverage for spouses at affordable rates and automatic $10,000 coverage at no cost for eligible dependents.

Health-Care Benefits for Reservists

Depending on duty status, Reservists and their qualifying family members may be eligible to receive medical benefits and dental benefits through TRICARE – the Department of Defense health-care program.

This program brings together health resources of the armed services and supplements them with civilian resources to complete your health-care coverage. You will also have use of military facilities in the event of illness or injury during training periods.
