Working on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier NIMITZ has been the most intellectually demanding experience of LT Zundel’s life. His daily routine consists of standing watch and running a division responsible for maintaining the equipment that supports the nuclear reactor aboard NIMITZ. A graduate of the University of California–Davis, LT Zundel has a personality geared toward learning. His service in the Navy has given him the chance to see the world, as well as touch the lives of Sailors each and every day.

Whenever LT Hartlage tells civilians that she operates a nuclear reactor for a living, the reaction is always nothing short of surprise. Working on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier NIMITZ has given LT Hartlage a great sense of accomplishment, challenging her to be mentally and physically equal with her peers. A graduate of the University of Alabama–Huntsville, LT Hartlage took advantage of the NUPOC program due to her lifelong love of mathematics. This has led LT Hartlage to an incomparable position within one of the world’s most prestigious nuclear programs as well as paved the way for future success.

The rapid-paced and highly technical working environment on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier NIMITZ has honed the leadership qualities necessary in Captain Manazaar’s role as the carrier’s Commanding Officer. It is his responsibility to uphold the values of honor, courage and commitment, so that those he leads on NIMITZ uphold the same. Captain Manazaar’s service to his country has not only given him a sense of pride while in uniform but a sense of satisfaction in being a part of something bigger than himself.
